Alcântara
This neighbourhood is located in the western part of Lisbon, between the historic centre and Belém, along the Tagus river. It combines residential, industrial, and port-related areas, with a clear physical division between the riverside zone and the upper hillside residential streets.
The built environment includes older apartment buildings, former industrial warehouses, and transport infrastructure. Parts of the waterfront have been redeveloped into leisure and nightlife spaces, while other sections remain connected to port and logistics activity. Streets in the upper area are often steep and irregular, reflecting older urban patterns.
Public transport includes train services along the Cascais line, tram and bus routes, and road connections via major arteries such as the 25 de Abril Bridge access. The area has a mix of long-term residents and newer developments, with property prices increasing in recent years but remaining generally below those of central historic districts.
