Penha de França

This neighbourhood is located north-east of the historic centre of Lisbon, between Arroios and Beato. It is primarily residential and developed mainly during the 20th century as the city expanded beyond the older central neighbourhoods.

The built environment consists largely of mid-rise apartment buildings with local shops and services on ground floors. Streets follow an irregular layout influenced by the hilly terrain, and some areas offer views over the city and the Tagus river. Public transport is provided mainly by bus routes, with metro access available in neighbouring districts.
